Tee Up & Wine Down for Habitat

 Monty Wyne

The Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors (GCAR) has been helping the real estate industry in the Chattanooga area for more than a century. In late 2014, they decided to partner with Chattanooga’s Habitat for Humanity, an organization that’s been helping hardworking, low-income families build affordable houses for themselves for more than 30 years.

GCAR worked with Habitat about 10 years ago on a few projects, but didn’t formally partner with them until November of 2014. Following all the planning work, it was decided that the Association would do a big event every other year and do a build on off years. The first event is a golf outing.

Maycreate’s creative team worked on all aspects of the event communications including all visual design, print collateral, social media exposure as well as the print and digital advertising campaign. The program for the event and fundraiser featured a wine tasting and silent auction. Our job was to find a clever way to get people excited about a new charity event in Chattanooga that combines golf and wine for a one day fund raiser.

The event was held April 11 and festivities began at 11:30 in the morning, with Tee Off at 1 o’clock. There was a cigar and wine tasting, as well as a live auction, ball toss, and drawing for various prizes. Whitney Mortimer and Sarah Smith designed all the graphics for the signs, banners (digital and printed), email blasts, and other event materials...we think they did a great job.

So, the countdown began for a very worthy cause. The golf tournament sold out quickly and early indications suggested the event would be a huge success. Maycreate made a safe bet - it was a hole-in-one.
