Meet Sophia
“Advertising is the final frontier,” says the newest member of Maycreate’s Creative Team. Say hello to Sophia Wegman. Art director. Teacher. Event Coordinator. PR Intern. Painter. Technology Wizard. Video Producer. You name it. Sophia’s done it.
She is driven. Sophia held two jobs while attending Syracuse University to complete a dual degree in Advertising and Information Management & Technology, and...surprise, surprise... graduated Cum Laude. The word overachiever comes to mind. And speaking of minds, Sophia loves to challenge hers when it comes to searching for “big ideas.”
That could explain why she worked as an intern and art director at McGarryBowen in New York City—Adweek’s U.S. Agency of the Year in 2011 and Ad Age’s Comeback Agency of the Year in 2017.
She calls herself a caffeinated problem solver. There’s no doubt that it works. In New York’s student ADDY Awards competition, she walked away with an ADDY Gold and Silver. She also won a Graphis Silver and two Merits for outstanding graphic design and was Advertising Student of the Year at the Syracuse Newhouse School of Communications.
She grew up in Brooklyn and her family moved to Syracuse when she was 6. Sophia says she has always looked at the world in a different way. The perfect point of view for the business of advertising.
She and her husband, a radio producer and sports director, have a love of board games. As a matter of fact, they have over 300 that occupy one of two bedrooms in their eclectic Chattanooga home.
What else can we say about Sophia? Believe it or not, she always had dreams of becoming a high school history teacher, an admirable profession. We, however, are very happy she chose advertising.
