Meet Abigail Bowman

 Monty Wyne

She comes from Memphis, the home of barbecue and the blues. Her father, a very successful photographer and videographer, was a big influence in her life. His visual passion inspired her. Later in life, her mother secured her master’s degree in education and began teaching. Both were exceptional role models of what one can achieve through hard work and ambition, fulfilling their lifelong dreams.

Abigail followed in their footsteps. She had a love of photography, as well as journaling and writing, which began in kindergarten and follows her to this day. On her 15th birthday, she received her first camera from her dad, his Nikon D80, and a journal from her best friend, and she was hooked.

After high school, she attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), determined to become a successful photojournalist. Two professors played important roles in her success. For one assignment, they asked the class to write an article on what was happening on campus. Hers not only made front page news, but she became a photojournalist and staff writer on the college student newspaper, and shortly thereafter, News Editor. She was also part of the first “Rising Rock” class on campus, a multimedia online journal, which received three Associated Press Awards, quite an achievement.

After graduation, she had a job lined up, but Covid meant a change of plans. So, Abigail took a job with Vibrant Meals. They needed an email announcing their many healthy food choices. No one had asked her to write it, but she decided to give it a shot. Afterwards, she shared the result with the CEO. He was very impressed and shortly after that, she was put in charge of overseeing and successfully managing their social media, email marketing, sales, and retail operations.

A few years later ambition struck. Abigail was looking for a new position. One that not only immersed her further into the world of communications and marketing but challenged her creative side. It also had to be a job where she felt she was giving back, one that was impactful and personally rewarding. As luck would have it, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Chattanooga had an opening and following the interview process she was offered the job of Communications Director.

It was the perfect opportunity to put her creative ability in strategic marketing and communications, copywriting, brand management, and content creation to work. She would utilize those abilities in engaging and reaching the Chattanooga community through collaborations and new ideas. The result? RMHC achieved significant growth in her first year. In addition, she also produced a 2023 mission moment video in partnership with Bloom Video Productions and the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. This video received several American Advertising Awards and was shared around the world by the global RMHC team.

Abigail is a welcome addition to the Maycreate team. As the copywriter and content manager, she’ll be an important part of our creative group, providing copy, photography, and creative content for upcoming client campaigns. In her free time, you can find Abigail cooking up a complicated meal from scratch, hiking with her dog Birdie and her husband Taylor, or enjoying a bagel and a coffee from Niedlovs.
