Downtown Chattanooga Goes Uptown
Boutiques, restaurants, first-class office space, and above it all, beautifully appointed apartment living. Market City Center has truly become the “Center of It All” in downtown Chattanooga. It's ten stories of amazing architectural detail, accented by high-end finishes. And, it’s one of the largest mixed-use buildings to be raised in downtown Chattanooga. We were assigned the task of raising awareness for Market City Center, which would be home to coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, offices, and residents.
The Simpson Organization, a large real estate investment firm located in Atlanta, is responsible for the building's development and has been a long-standing and valued client of Maycreate.
The project began with finding the perfect name for the building and designing a unique visual brand that defined the purpose and significance of this new 10-story structure. Brian May, President & Executive Creative Director, and Monty Wyne, Senior Copywriter, worked on hundreds of possible names. Market City Center was our finalist. The logo, with its intertwining M and Cs represented the intersection of city and business life coming together in one, central place.
Once we had completed those initial elements, there was a website to design, develop and launch. Large retail window treatments to design and produce for the first floor. Construction fence graphics. A full-blown sales kit. An MCC stationary set with business cards. Entry mats. Photography and video production of the one and two-bedroom apartments, which occupied the top 6 stories of the building. And this was just the beginning.
Sarah Smith, our Photo and Video Producer, Grant Little, our Senior Art Director and Website Designer, and Eliza Everett, Maycreate’s Account Manager, got to work. Grant put together a site map and began designing the look and feel of the site, while keeping a close eye on functionality and optimization for mobile use. Monty began work on compelling content for the site and other introductory printed and digital materials. Sarah initiated still and video shoots of the exterior and the interior floors of the building and edited video footage featuring the one and two-bedroom apartments. Eliza worked with our vendors, setting up production schedules, monitoring deadlines, assisting the art directors with digital ad layouts, and kept everything organized and running smoothly.
Following on the heels of the introductory materials, we had to prepare for a grand opening. Signage had to be created. An invitation had to be designed, written and produced. Our guest speakers had to be confirmed and copies and timings of their presentations finalized. A guest list had to be organized and invitations approved by the client and sent to recipients 2 weeks prior to the event. Information cards containing details of the evening and the building also had to be written, designed and produced. Unique gift baskets for a drawing that would take place that evening were assembled as well. Grant, Eliza, Sarah, and Monty all pitched in to meet a very tight deadline. The event was a success and Market City Center was suddenly becoming “the talk of the town.”
A tremendous amount of creative work has followed the grand opening. It has included a combination of media outlets, such as outdoor, digital, print, and video. And the work continues for special promotions, brand awareness, and media events.
