A Website that Bends Over Backwards

 Monty Wyne

On August 27th, Chattanoogans will be bending, stretching, reaching, and extending themselves at one of the largest yoga festivals ever held in the city. Local yoga studios have been invited to join the fun in an effort to help unify the popular and growing yoga community. Maycreate was asked to build the website for this unusual event.

We turned the design of the site over to Whitney Mortimer, one of Maycreate’s Art Directors and Graphic Designers. Following a client meeting and a thorough discussion about what the site should convey to visitors, Whitney went to work.

One of the primary requirements for the site was creating a continual sense of movement. Yoga is a graceful and precise series of poses that not only shape the body, but shape the mind. Whitney looked for ways to make the graphics and content flow in a seamless succession of bright and colorful images connected to one another through artful movement.

The secret to this unique design was developing a clean and easy to use interface, one that was clear, concise, responsive and artful. All of these elements contribute to an enjoyable and engaging experience, which encourages users to explore and consume all aspects of the site, thanks to Taylor Richards, Maycreate’s inventive Web Developer.

In addition to inspiring the site’s visitors to attend this unusual event, 10 percent of all ticket sales will go to support the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA). The founder of the festival always knew her mission would involve reaching out and helping children and families awaiting a pediatric donor.

We invite you to visit the site and consider attending the festival. Nationally acclaimed yogis will lead a number of very unique sessions.
